Stephanie Lambert and Doug Moseley
July 12, 2008
Ceremony: First United Methodist of Montgomery
Reception: Capital City Club
The Back Story
Since neither Stephanie nor Doug was from Birmingham, the chance of them meeting would have been slim--- except for a blind date set up by the guy who cut their hair. After getting to know them both, their hair stylist thought they’d be a good match and he fixed them up. He was absolutely right! Since that first date, they’ve been inseparable. Stephanie said the moment she saw Doug is a picture that she will have in her mind forever. And so it was just a matter of time before they got married.
The Proposal
They’d been dating for a while when they decided to take a trip to Seaside to celebrate Doug’s birthday. Stephanie had no idea that Doug actually had the ring and planned to propose. It was not out of the ordinary when Doug suggested they go out for coffee at Starbucks since that was their typical routine when they were at the beach. However, this time, Doug took a little detour and stopped to look at the gorgeous church in the middle of Seaside. When they were totally alone, Doug popped the question and asked Stephanie to be his wife.
The Planning
Stephanie wanted great pictures and made finding the right wedding photographer her first priority. After hiring Bromberg’s wedding partner Arden Ward and Brett Moore of Arden Photography to deliver the memories in pictures, she moved on to her next big priority--- the gown. Stephanie tried on and looked everywhere--- including a trip to Atlanta to meet with couture designer Anne Barge. After months of looking and trying on--- she finally decided on a unique lace gown from couture designer Monique Lhullier that incorporated all of the details she loved into one gown. Next, Stephanie decided to get some help and hired an experienced wedding planner in Montgomery to help her with the rest of the details. “Hire a planner, it is worth it in every way” says Stephanie. “You can actually relax and enjoy the process and the day rather than stress over details.”
The Details
Gowns: The bride wore a Monique Lhullier from Carriage House Weddings featuring custom designed lace and a shirred waist. It was one of Stephanie’s favorite things about her wedding. Stephanie’s twelve bridesmaids wore black strapless gowns, also from Carriage House Weddings.
Tuxedos: The men wore classic black tuxedos with hand-tied bow ties from Mr. Burch Formal Wear in Mountain Brook since Doug wanted a James Bond look.
Cakes: Stephanie wanted something completely different than the traditional wedding cake so she went to Bromberg’s wedding partner Diane Olexa for help. Diane designed a five tier wedding cake to replicate the lace Stephanie’s gown and a three tiered banded chocolate groom’s cake decorated with frosted green fruit.
Favorite Things: Besides her gown, Stephanie loved taking her wedding pictures. “I loved that we were with all of the people in our lives that meant something to us” she said. “I just looked around and took it all in—all of our friends and families were there for us. It was a wonderful feeling and one of my favorite things about the wedding.”
